My wife Liz and I just got back from the Phoenix Symphony. Liz comes from a very musical family, third generation Danish, from Iowa.
By chance, two of the three pieces tonight were Scandinavian, Grieg’s Peer Gynt and Nielsen’s Violin Concerto. By the way, every little thing I know about classical music I’ve learned while accompanying Liz to the Phoenix Symphony.
Serendipitously, we ran into my brother, a federal judge, and his wife, a lawyer/mediator, as we walked into Phoenix Symphony Hall so we decided to treat ourselves to some dessert afterwards to chat. We went to the revolving restaurant (Compass Room?) on the 23rd floor of the Hyatt ($15 minimum per person). It was great fun.
Now to the point. From the time we got into the car in the parking garage across from Phoenix Symphony Hall ($8) to the time we turned off the engine at home in McCormick Ranch, only 33 minutes had past.
Of course, there was little traffic at that time of night. But then again, I didn’t take the freeway. I traveled overland from Downtown Phoenix to McCormick Ranch in just 33 minutes!
McCormick Ranch is a great location!
By the way, when I used to work near Downtown Phoenix, I could usually drive to work in about 45 minutes.
